Growing up, my family lived paycheque to paycheque. We were taught to chase “safe” jobs—to get a degree, work hard, and never take risks. But safety didn’t equal stability. I saw the emotional and financial toll on my family, and I knew I wanted more—not just for myself, but for them.
I came to Australia in 2017 with a dream and a few thousand dollars in my account. No support system. No family. Just ambition and belief. Starting over in a new country wasn’t easy. I didn’t understand the culture, the job market, the accent or how wealth worked here. I had to learn everything from scratch.
I built a house as I understood and used my savings for the deposit. A bad decision in a failed business wiped out my savings completely and on 21/07/2019 I was left with almost no money. I remember that day; a day before my son’s birthday. That evening, I sat in —frustrated, overwhelmed, but not broken.
Something inside me said: “This isn’t the life you came to Australia for. You’ve come too far to stop here.”
I made a decision: “This life of survival ends here. From now on, I fight for something bigger.”
